Geshe Kelsang Gyatso

Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso is the Founder of the New Kadampa Tradition - International Kadampa Buddhist Union. Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso is a fully accomplished meditation master and internationally renowned teacher of Buddhism. Geshe-la, as he is affectionately called by his students, is primarily responsible for the worldwide revival of Kadampa Buddhism in our time.

Venerable Geshe Kelsang has dedicated his entire life to teaching Buddhism and to providing conditions conducive for the study and practice of Buddha's teachings, with the sole aim of helping people discover a meaningful life and solve their problems. He has written twenty highly acclaimed books that reveal the complete path to enlightenment. His teachings and writings convey the profound wisdom of Buddha in a clear and simple way, helping people to integrate it into their busy, modern lives.

He has designed three study programmes for the systematic study and practice of Buddhism, established over 1000 Buddhist Centres and groups worldwide, trained qualified Buddhist teachers, and created a project to build Buddhist Temples throughout the world dedicated to world peace.

The General Spiritual Director

Gen-la Kelsang Dekyong

Gen-la Kelsang Dekyong is the Spiritual Director of the NKT and the Resident Teacher at Manjushri KMC, the Mother Center of Kadampa Buddhism. She has been practicing Buddhism and studying closely with her Spiritual Guide, Geshe Kelsang Gyatso for many years.

Gen-la Dekyong provides an inspiring example of a modern-day Kadampa practitioner for us to follow.

Students around the world are moved by her faith and devotion to her spiritual teacher and commitment to benefiting others.

Nick Bramble is Geshe Kelsang's representative in Nottingham and has been studying and practising Kadampa Buddhism for many years.

He lives at Akshobya Kadampa Buddhist Centre and teaches the Foundation and Teacher Training Programme, drop-in meditation classes and day courses, as well as guiding various meditation retreats throughout the year.
