Why not treat yourself to a day of mental peace? Find out for yourself how to make your mind peaceful.
Most people think of retreat as getting away from external things, taking a break from busy activities; but it’s easy to forget about retreating from our own distractions, which is the most important. We can cut ourselves off from all contact with work, but if we keep worrying about the things we have left undone then work will still interfere with our retreat. Retreat is mainly a state of mind. Silence is very useful: it helps us turn inwards and pay more attention to our mental chatter, so that we can begin to let it go and experience real silence within our mind. This retreat is suitable for everyone, beginners welcome.
The day will comprise four gentle 45 minute sessions of guided meditation, helpful explanations and encouragement. Between the sessions there will be time to relax. Refreshments will be available throughout the day and a light vegetarian/vegan lunch is included.
£25 (free for members): en-suite accommodation also available
The teacher for this course is Gen Kelsang Gakyi, Resident Teacher at Kadampa Meditation Centre Nottingham, much respected for her ability to present Buddha’s teachings with warmth, humour and clarity.

Directions :
Please note that some sat-navs show an entrance to Wood Lane from Colliery Way that does not exist! The only way to enter Wood Lane is via Shearing Hill/Main Street, Gedling.
We are situated at the end of Wood Lane, past the school. Wood Lane splits into two at the school entrance – so keep going straight ahead, rather than carrying on left up the hill. See map above.
Kadampa Meditation Centre Nottingham at Gedling House should be available on sat-navs, or you may wish to use ‘What3words’: spare.reader.ruled.
Please take care driving down the lane as we are blessed with a lot of wildlife.
