Description

“So much of the stress and tension we normally experience comes from our mind, and many of the problems we experience, including ill health, are caused or aggravated by this stress. Just by doing breathing meditation for ten or fifteen minutes each day, we will be able to reduce this stress. We will experience a calm, spacious feeling in the mind, and many of our usual problems will fall away. Difficult situations will become easier to deal with, we will naturally feel warm and well disposed towards other people, and our relationships with others will gradually improve.”

Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche (How to Transform Your Life)

Anxiety and stress are endemic in our busy, fast-paced life. We tend to think that situations or people in our life are the causes of our stress and unhappiness. Consequently, we waste our time and deplete our mental energy by trying to figure out how to ‘fix’ those situations or people. This usually creates even more mental busyness and stress.

Buddha taught that all our worries, anxiety and stress comes from within our own mind. More specifically, they come from our unrealistic expectations and our exaggerated views of ourself, the people around us and the world in general. By learning to identify the actual causes of our unpleasant feelings and emotions, we can begin to understand how to free our mind from them.

In this half-day course, we will look at how meditation can eliminate stress and help us to be more relaxed, peaceful and positive in our daily life. We will train in powerful stress-busting techniques derived from ancient Buddhist wisdom, and learn to face life’s adversities with a happy, peaceful heart.

Suitable both for those new to Buddhist meditation and those more familiar with the practice.

This event is suitable for everyone, beginners welcome.

How to find us (Gedling House)

Free parking is available at the centre.

Disabled access and accessible parking available.

Directions :

Please note that some sat-navs show an entrance to Wood Lane from Colliery Way that does not exist! The only way to enter Wood Lane is via Shearing Hill/Main Street, Gedling.

We are situated at the end of Wood Lane, past the school. Wood Lane splits into two at the school entrance – so keep going straight ahead, rather than carrying on left up the hill. See map above.

Kadampa Meditation Centre Nottingham at Gedling House should be available on sat-navs, or you may wish to use ‘What3words’: spare.reader.ruled.

Please take care driving down the lane as we are blessed with a lot of wildlife.

Buses:

The nearest bus stops:

44 & 44A: Main Road, Gedling (Church View stop) – walk to mini-roundabout, down towards Shearing Hill and left into Wood Lane.

26, 26A, N26: Burton Road (Florence Road stop) – walk up Coronation Walk and through the pedestrian alley to Wood Lane.
