Description

Why not join us for a day of peace? An opportunity to learn simple breathing meditations and find out for yourself the benefits of a daily meditation practice.

In this popular retreat, you will be introduced t0 the special breathing meditation known as the ‘OM AH HUM’ meditation. This meditation combines the breath with a simple silent mantra recitation. It is a powerful technique for experiencing inner peace, improving concentration and making our mind more positive and more controlled. It is an ideal meditation for those new to meditation as well as for those more experienced practitioners. Everyone is welcome.

Most people think of retreat as getting away from external things, taking a break from busy activities; but it’s easy to forget about retreating from our own distractions, which is the most important. We can cut ourselves off from all contact with work, but if we keep worrying about the things we have left undone then work will still interfere with our retreat. Retreat is mainly a state of mind. Silence is very useful: it helps us turn inwards and pay more attention to our mental chatter, so that we can begin to let it go and experience real silence within our mind.

The day will comprise four gentle 45 minute sessions of guided meditation, helpful explanations and encouragement. Between the sessions there will be time to relax. Refreshments will be available throughout the day and a light vegetarian/vegan lunch is available.

  • £30 with lunch
  • £25 without lunch

How to find us (Gedling House)

Free parking is available at the centre.

Disabled access and accessible parking available.

Directions :

Please note that some sat-navs show an entrance to Wood Lane from Colliery Way that does not exist! The only way to enter Wood Lane is via Shearing Hill/Main Street, Gedling.

We are situated at the end of Wood Lane, past the school. Wood Lane splits into two at the school entrance – so keep going straight ahead, rather than carrying on left up the hill. See map above.

Kadampa Meditation Centre Nottingham at Gedling House should be available on sat-navs, or you may wish to use ‘What3words’: spare.reader.ruled.

Please take care driving down the lane as we are blessed with a lot of wildlife.

Buses:

The nearest bus stops:

44 & 44A: Main Road, Gedling (Church View stop) – walk to mini-roundabout, down towards Shearing Hill and left into Wood Lane.

26, 26A, N26: Burton Road (Florence Road stop) – walk up Coronation Walk and through the pedestrian alley to Wood Lane.
